After a miserable dry spell in Birmingham for quality techno and house events, there is finally some light shining over Digbeth in the form of yellow Chapter Festival posters.

The closing of the Rainbow Venues - including The Warehouse, Crane, The Carpark, The Roof Garden and Blackbox - left a shadow over the city and took away the home of many great festivals and events, such as Chapter and Colours. The venue announced its closure in January 2018 after its licence was revoked following a series of drug related deaths.

Since, the space has reopened as The Mill, but so far, in my opinion the venue is yet to host a party which compares to Rainbows legendary events.

For those who remember the original festival, Chapter was an annual extravaganza, hosted in the spring across all of the Rainbow Venues. Chapter continuously pulled in insane line ups, with Joseph Capriati, Adam Beyer, Apollonia, Midland and Gerd Janson being just a few huge names from 2017s festival.

Chapter XV is looking to be just as good with the likes of Jeff Mills, Jamie Jones and Luciano already being announced.

Unlike previous years, the festival is set to take place in November, but I am delighted to hear that Chapter will be returning to its original stomping ground in Lower Trinity Street. Utilising Birmingham’s iconic spaces, including The Mill, the critically acclaimed Blackbox, The Roof Garden and the much loved Digbeth Arena, the festival is set to bring Digbeth back to life.

As if this announcement isn’t exciting enough, the festival has also introduced two new, untapped spaces as a ‘special surprise’ for partiers, further injecting a dose of excitement back into Birmingham’s techno scene.

The yellow posters plastered over our city is the start of a new chapter and I am looking forwards to seeing what Chapter XV has in store for us.
