Gone are the days of accidentally turning up in the same outfit as your friend. This summer, it’s all about embracing outfit coordination because, after all, what better way to attend a festival, then in a matching outfit with your bestie?

Matching outfits are the latest fashion craze. This summer has seen a wave of girl gangs attending festivals and events, dressed head to toe in matching two-pieces, corresponding co-ords and similar accessories and glasses alike.

After many unsuccessful years of trying to coordinate my outfits with my boyfriend, I am delighted that it is finally acceptable to create quirky looks with your squad, without the fear of looking like you’ve copied your pals’ outfit or accidentally turned up matching. The craze adds a whole new element to outfit planning. Experimenting with different looks, colours and styles will never be the same again.

Thankfully, some of our favourite bloggers and online sites have done a lot of the hard work for us, producing some of the cutest matching looks which will have you and your bestie gleaming this summer.

Groove Studio Clothing, created by best friends, Ella and Kasey, is one online site that understands the importance of matching outfits this season. No stranger to coordinating their own outfits, the founders of the brand continuously produce looks, synchronising colour schemes, patterns, materials and textures.

One of our favourite looks-for-two comes from the ‘mood’ range, with cow print creating the feature for this look. The first option is high-waisted cow-print bikini, with bright pink hems, accompanied by a super pretty glittery, pink short sleeved extreme crop top. The second option is a high leg cow print swimsuit, which uses the same pink hem as shoulder ties. The style and fit of these looks are completely different, however the patterns and colour complement one another and would make cool outfits for an Ants event at Ushuaia or Hideout Festival.

Another company in agreement that twinning is the new way forward, is the Dumb Blonde Club. These handmade pieces offer girls the flexibility to wear identical styles but contrast the colours and patterns to create a powerpuff girl look. Our favourite look, as seen on their insta, is the extreme crop top lightening set, available in purple, green and pink. Modelled by three babes, Flossie, Georgia, and Leah, this look is perfect for a night in DC10 and demands attention with its sassy nature.

Finally, Indio Black Clothing, shows us how to style the exact same item to create different looks and outfits. Indio Blacks approach on twinning is simple, but effective. As seen on icons, Helena Critchley and bestie, Grace Stutter, an identical fishnet co-ord is paired with either an oversized white t-shirt or simply, worn on its own (with nipple covers, of course) to create two individual looks, which compliment one another.

In my opinion, the freedom to wear matching outfits without judgement sums up the inclusiveness of the techno community. Festivals and events are a symbol of togetherness and friendship, rather than competition or jealousy. I love that girls are taking the time to plan and select their outfits as a team, and I think its empowering and characteristic of the strong unity of the women celebrating each other.

So, whether your matching patterns and textures, opting for the same style but contrasting colours, or simply wearing identical outfits, be sure to make a statement with your friends this year. It’s fun, it’s cute, and, it’s a sign of great friendships. Plus, it also looks really cool in photos.
